From the top of The Sandwiches across the basin, just after dropoff, on Day 3. Woo hoo!

After dinner at the Pickle Barrel, we sniffed out Montanyas, a rum distillery on a side road in Silverton. The Dark and Snowy I had there (with homemade ginger beer) was big enough to hold a baby. More important were its recuperative qualities.
This picture is woefully out of focus. Appropriate, I think.

We spent a few hours after each day here at the yurt, enjoying refreshments — we were very thirsty — and good conversation. Simple stuff, like skiing, snow, food and bodily functions.
That’s Big Daddy, schooling Jeremy on something. Probably powder.
Right behind Big Daddy is Doug, the heli pilot. There aren’t many girls in Silverton; chances are good that Doug has introduced himself to all of them.

A look at The Grassy from the other side of the basin. We dropped in at the V, made our way skiers left to the top of the gully and followed it down to the treeline. After a quick traverse into the trees, we had our pick of lines to the bottom. I picked the first open chute (lookers left of the gully) where I found the most glorious turns of my life to that point. More on this later.Big Daddy, you’ve done it again.

Near the bottom of The Grassy, after our heli drop. That’s Tyler at top right, just after the windblown and just before untracked butter.
From this point forward, we put all our faith in Big Daddy, our guide, and his uncanny nose for soft snow.

Our heli trip from the top of the lift across to The Grassy. I was geeked.

A look at our first run, Rope-De-Dope, from the heli landing across the way. We dropped in at the V and took it to skiers left into the trees below. Variable at the top, butter at the bottom.
